This two-day workshop is geared towards mental health professionals seeking to acquire entry-level information and training on the assessment, management, and treatment of suicide risk among suicidal patients. The first portion of the workshop provides training in core competencies for the clinical care of suicidal patients. The second portion of the workshop provides a detailed, step-by-step review of the BCBT protocol. The second portion of the workshop includes demonstrations by the instructor and skills practice by attendees, which are designed to help attendees develop basic skills and comfort in the procedure.

This half-day training is designed to enhance mental health clinicians' knowledge and confidence in conducting lethal means counseling (LMC), which entails the assessment of a patient's access to a potentially lethal suicide attempt method and working with them (and their support system) to limit or reduce their access to these methods. Although LMC has long been considered an important component of clinical work with suicidal patients, clear guidance and recommendations for discussing environmental safety has only recently emerged. This workshop provides an overview of LMC and provides practical suggestions and tips for navigating these conversations with high-risk patients.

This full-day workshop is designed to enhance mental health clinicians' skill and confidence in conducting a patient-centered assessment of their patients' risk for suicide, formulating risk, and developing a treatment plan that meets standard of care expectations. This first portion of the training provides an overview of five critical domains of recent research findings relevant to suicide risk assessment and offers examples of simple strategies that can be integrated into a clinician's existing suicide risk assessment practices to inform the risk formulation process. The second portion of the training includes clinical demonstrations and role-play to enhance clinician competency.
